Kaffibarinn

Kaffibarinn is probably one the most recognized bar in Reykjavik. It’s been a popular meeting point among locals and foreign visitors for years. Kaffibarinn typically draws university crowds as well as local bohems and people in their thirties and forties - making it a melting pot for various types of groups and stereotypes. Kaffibarinn has three main sections and three bars. It’s not a big place but pretty well organized. The furnishing has not changed much since it’s opening day’s, beside some extensions that were made in the early 2000’s. From Monday to Wednesday Kaffibarinn is more like a café, but from Thursday’s to Sunday’s it changes into a party place where all the most renowned local Dj’s play; recent dance, techno, house and indie music with a mix of golden oldies. The bar is famous for being co-owned for a short period by the singer/songwriter Damon Albarn from Blur and Gorillas who used to be a local guest at the bar when he stayed here.
